You told me once we'd always be friends.
And now here we are, this is where it ends.
I whispered in your ear, "you promise not to tell?"
You nod your head "yes" then you put me through Hell.
I laid my life out so that only you could see.
Then the very next week you sold it to my enemy.

What kind of a world do we live in when,

Secrets aren't safe and the truth hurts
Teenage girls are nothing but empty-headed flirts
This is the breakdown of society
Putting the world through all this anxiety.

Walking down the halls at school
I see the girls, I watch them drool.
Some dim-witted jock is what they're after.
And I can't help but suppress my laughter.
Then I turn around and my blood runs cold
Because I notice that they all fit that mold.

Secrets aren't safe and the truth hurts
Teenage girls are nothing but empty-headed flirts
This is the breakdown of society
Putting the world through all this anxiety.

Someday the world will finally see
How it lives and how it grieves
And pieces will be put back in place
And save this sad, sad disgrace.

Because secrets aren't safe and the truth hurts.

Ever look at your life and wonder where the F you went wrong?  I can look back on a ton of things that I could've done.... but as Chris would say, "If you would've done those things, what kind of a life would you have now? Would it be nearly as fulfilling?"  This may be my last entry for a while.  Got some stuff to work out.

Life is going down the tubes again.  The difference this time?  I can see it happen, and I know there's nothing I can do about it.  But it's all good.  I'll survive one way or another.  I always have.  Things are just going to get rough over the next few months.  Anyway... On the up side, a new movie review!  This time it's Pan's Labyrinth.  I think I can do this one without giving away any spoilers for those that haven't seen it yet.

Movie Review: Pan's Labyrinth

This movie is basically, as Christopher put it, "a fairy tale for adults".  A young girl, a lover of fairy tales, finds herself in the harsh reality of the real world (only a lot crueler than most of us know it to be).  Then she finds herself to be the main character in her own fairy tale.  According to some online reviews, this fairy tale is in her imagination.  But after watching the movie, I believe otherwise.  (For example - the mandrake root.)  While it comes off as a children's sort of story, this movie is NOT for kids!.... Unless you're some kind of German neo-nazi.  It was also completely in Spanish, so those of you that avoid subtitles (or can't read, like Chris) shouldn't go and see this movie.  (Very, very bloody.)  The fairy tale characters, ranging from a toad, to "eye-ball man", were very life-like.  They had a seamless integration  of CGI and  exceptional  makeup.  (I mean really, wow.)  The actors were unknown to , but that could be because I don't watch a lot of Spanish flicks.  What I can recall of the acting was excellent, but I was too enthralled with the story and the sets to notice much.... well.... and reading the subtitles...  Overall, quite a good movie.

life is boring.... like insanely boring... *sigh*  I'm growing restless of just sitting at home, but lately, nothing seems to excite me much outside of my home life.  Must be one of those days.  Anyway... I have a new movie review... This is a new movie, so if you haven't seen it yet and you intend to, DO NOT read the following review.  I can almost guarantee some spoilers.  (sorry guys)  Last night I went to see The Messengers.  I thought it would be great.  The previews looked awesome.

Movie Review: The Messengers

There aren't many big names in this film, but I must say, I did like Kristen Stewart's character.  (Kristen plays the daughter.)  While she hasn't been in much yet, I have a feeling she'll be one of those actresses everyone knows the name of soon.  While people classify this film as horror... I just can't bring myself to say the same.  This is what I would classify as "the downfall of american horror films".  No doubt about it, this movie is quite predictable with little depth to it.  It also feels like they wrapped four movies into one.  (The Grudge, The Birds, The Others, and that one other horror movie where the dad goes around killing everyone...)  Now the reason I classify this movie in the downfall genre is simply because it was highly predictable and every "scary" scene was the same.  Awkward silence in a shot that seems to take too long, then a blast of instrumental noise as the camera angle changes to something that flashes on the screen close-up.  There were not enough characters to really mess with your mind throughout the movie.  You pretty much knew that one of two people were involved, what role the involved person played, and what was going to happen in the end.  *sigh*  Sadly, I felt like the minor characters (all three of them) were underappreciated.  You had more major characters than minor ones and even most of the main characters didn't get the screen time that they should've.  There was a hallway scene that could've been cut shorter and the director gave away too many clues after you could pretty much figure out what happened.  (Note - finding the picture with four people in it... That and the entire beginning scene....)  The cast was great, but that doesn't make up for a bad movie.

update!!!  So I have a new job now... well... for the next two weeks at least... and then I have to take a test or something to see if I still qualify or not.  Anyway... I have begun writing a new book.  My last project is being put on hold for right now until I get a computer.  (Most of the work that I did for it was saved on a comp, and there's no point in starting over again.)  I don't know how well this new one will span out either.  I started writing it tonight, and when I picked up the pencil, I couldn't stop... well... until I got really tired and then I put it down and tried to sleep...  Which makes me wonder how good it actually is...  *shrug*  So I have something a little new to try tonight... Movie Reviews!  Since I seem to be the "movie critic" of all my friends... well... I just thought that I should give it a try.  For those of you that don't know, I can find something good and bad about every movie out there.  As can many other people, I'm sure... but for some reason, people always rag on my bad comments towards a movie because they think that I'm not giving it enough credit or something...  Then they get it stuck in their minds that I don't like a movie just because I'm able to bring out their bad qualities.  (Yes, BENJAMIN, I'm talking about YOU!  <And Adam, but he won't read this>)  So here are my reviews for the evening:  Two movies that I just saw for the first time this week, Smokin' Aces (a new movie), and From Hell (an older movie).

****Note: There may be a few spoilers below in my reviews.****

~ Smokin' Aces ~
This movie was not quite the typical "mobster movie" that the guys gave me the impression it would be.  (For those of you that don't know, I'm definitely not a fan of the stereotypical mobster movies or crime dramas.) This one was actually able to hold my attention for longer than I expected.  While it was stereotypical in the fact that they introduce about twenty characters that are important to the story in the first five minutes, each character (or group) was significantly different and it was very easy to remember who was who and what roles they played.  Personally, the fact that several of the main characters were not big stars, moves my rating of this movie up a few notches.  Even the bigger-name cast members were able to get so in-depth in their roles that you seemed to forget who they were almost immediately and they became the character that they were trying to portray.  (In short, good acting... not just typecast stooges.)  It was also nice, for once, to see women portrayed in a role other than the sex objects or damsels in distress.  (But the majority of the women in this film.... okay... all but three women in this film were merely sex objects.)  Now for the bad aspects of this film...  There aren't many, but there are a few things that I took notice of.  After watching a twenty-minute bloodbath (I mean an all-out massacre!), I was really hoping for some originality in the killing spree.  I was sadly disappointed.  I mean, I can't be the only one who was literally begging for the guy towards the end to get run over by the car!  SOMETHING!  Aside from interesting characters, and a witty ending, this film did seem to lack in that little extra spark.  Guns get old.  C'mon!  These people payed to see this movie, and at the climax, you just leave us bored!  Same old thing, over and over again.  *sigh*  When I see a movie that can keep action going, but make every shot or every death interesting and different, then it'll get my 5-star rating.  But overall, this flick was worth seeing.

~ From Hell ~
Now those of you that like Johnny Depp.... This may not be the movie for you....  This is not some teenybopper "oh look, it's Johnny Depp, he's so hot!" flick.  Oh no!  There may be a reason why this one seems to escape the radar on most teens list of favorite movies.  From Hell is about Jack the Ripper and the investigator that attempting to figure out the secret behind the murders.  This is a movie that is definitely NOT for those with a weak stomach.  I don't have a weak stomach (Satya, my old science lab partner can attest to that.... Remember how I made a puppet with that fetal pig and ..... anyway...), but there were a couple parts in this movie that made me more than a little queasy.  Not only that, but while this was not technically a 'horror movie', it still made me a little nervous about walking around without the lights on at night.  I wish that I could've gotten a little more about the prostitutes (the main characters), but I guess that could've taken a lot longer than the movie had to play.  The acting was quite good, and I was happy once again to see Johnny Depp in a role that didn't make teenagers cry out for his body and where he was actually able to display his acting talents.  (Because actors are meant to ACT, NOT to play as eye candy for hormone-induced children!  Kids.... JD's old.  You don't want him.  And he doesn't want some child half his age that does nothing but stalk him and drool at his picture all day....  That's creepy.)  Anyway.... acting was very very good.... But ironically enough, not the thing that actually caught my eye and made me go "wow".  I have to give a shout out to the lighting director and the people that set up the way the scenes would be shot.... It was SPECTACULAR.  Every shot was absolutely gorgeous!  It's not hard to tell that the lighting guys spent hours (more than likely) setting up every light for every shot so that it hit the actors, backdrop, props, whatever just perfectly.  I didn't notice it until one scene where it's completely dark and suddenly, there's a knife blade shining as it hits one spot of light over and over (in other words, the first victim was getting stabbed).  I just sat back and went "wow".  I mean every scene was amazing, and it would take forever for me to explain which ones I liked.  Just watch the movie and look for it.
